Like all who step onto the path toward the light, he thought to himself “there must be a better way!” With courage, he prayed for happiness, joy and freedom, purchasing a one-way ticket to Mexico. Alex’s mind began to expand through following out-of-pattern guidance from the Spirit, and drawing inspiration from artists who were uncompromisingly shining their light. Through this process, he became a channel of direct communication from the divine, allowing magical lyrics to pour through him: “The miracles will flow before your eyes… the physical world dissolves into the sky.” Both David and Alex reflected on the beautiful synchronicities they’ve encountered by aligning themselves with the organic flow of life. Miracles upon miracles unfolded when their foremost priority was to remain connected to the presence of God within their hearts, residing and moving from a place of inner stillness. David and Alex, two beloved brothers, met in a shared understanding that spaciousness helps to release the role of the ‘doer’ and allows the Spirit to work through them. Jesus’ name lingers in my mind, day and night. I Long to Know You I see the cloud mist floating like the ocean from afar. Jesus’ name lingers in my mind, day and night. All of a sudden, his name alone becomes the answer to everything. All of a sudden, all the answers boil down to only one. My purpose, my function, and my message become single. Any unworthiness and self-doubt become part of the answer and not the problem anymore. I accept fully that I can’t do anything without Him. But He is with me. So I can do anything now. “Human nature” makes it seem like there will always be temptations to separate, attack, and fight for personal gain in this world. But maybe, just maybe, we can unite in the single focus and purpose regardless. Maybe we cannot and will not ever fix all of the issues among people and a higher purpose is our only way out. Jesus is my higher purpose and the only purpose. If I hold onto the belief of being a separate human body, this life will continue to be a battle. But with you, Jesus, I can and will fulfill the function you have assigned me. I have to know You, I long to know You, To know what Life truly is, To know what Compassion truly is, And to know what it is like to have my heart Filled with your Love forever and ever. I don’t have much, A burning desire and a willingness to stay humble. But somehow I know, To my loving Father, that is enough. Teach me how to be free From the prison of attack and judgments. And show me how to navigate Through time and space without getting lost. Let me not think I even know how to pray or how to forgive. For if I am content with anything other than total peace and supreme joy, Then I do not know you. Let me become an empty cup once again, With eyes closed and heart wide open, Waiting for You to fill me up. What Does It Mean to Be Still? “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalms 46:10) Stillness is the state of mind that allows us to remember our connection with and existence in God. God’s Mind is very still because it has no conflict. Lack of stillness comes from conflict, which must be resolved to achieve inner peace. Without this inner peace and stillness, we cannot reach the ultimate truth of who we are as God’s Son. The main conflict in the mind relates to uncertainty about our identity. When we make illusions real and engage in egoic thinking, we forget our true identity in God and its timelessness in the holy instant. While we cannot practice the Holy Instant without putting it in the future, we can practice stillness. This helps us uncover hidden conflicts, the ego-made problems designed to distract us from our glory in God. As we disengage from egoic thinking and return our mind to its natural stillness, we start to engage in a genuine, authentic inquiry into who we truly are. This is the only path back to our Creator. “The angels have been whispering to you ever since you were born into this world. Believing in unmet needs disrupts the mind's natural stillness, leading to chaotic, egoic thinking that keeps us striving in the world, chasing illusions we think will bring happiness. True happiness is our nature, and we find it by removing all that obscures it. “You need to be unwound by the Holy Spirit, to loosen up, lighten up from what you believe you are on this earth.” David Hoffmeister Humans have needs that stem from an enormous sense of lack, which has a single cause: the belief that we have left our Holy Father in Heaven and ventured into the world feeling separate and alone, seeking companionship, food, protection, success, status, and more. Our appetite for “things” is endless because of an insatiable desire deep in our hearts to return Home to Him and feel whole again. However, when we believe we are merely human, the burning desire for God is misinterpreted by ego as bodily needs and impulses, leading to an intense drive to improve the false self, fuelled by feelings of deficiency, inadequacy, and lack. As David says, God’s angels never leave our side. They constantly whisper in our ears, come Home holy child of God, you don’t belong here. Heaven is your real Home where you don’t have to toil, nor wonder, nor do you have to figure out how to increase your worth. Your worth is determined by God Himself and no amount of sleeping and dreaming can impinge on your worth. All things work together for good because the Holy Spirit uses everything in form to reach the state of Atonement. This means we never really have to worry about anything or give in to distractions. If absolutely everything will work out in our own best interest, why would we even interfere? “Meditation starts out with practice. You do have to be vigilant for God and His Kingdom. You do have to work at training your mind to jump off the thought trains, as they say in Buddhism, or to sink beneath the leaves and let the leaves flow over you.” David Hoffmeister With enough practice, life becomes one long meditation, regardless of what we are doing, who we are with, or what the external environment is like. This is what it means to be still. By calling on God’s name, which is our own, we start to disengage from chaos and engage with Him, ultimately realizing our holy nature. Consequently, she stayed in Australia for another five years. Fear, as intense as it can feel, is not real. Perfect love cast out fear. How Do We Overcome Fear? What does perfect love cast out fear mean? Fear, as intense as it can feel, is not real. It’s best thought of as an acronym, F.E.A.R. i.e. false evidence appearing real. The falsity of fear comes from the decision to experience the universe through the five senses. This lends itself to the perception of an unreal physical world which veils the Truth. Because our true nature is abstract Love and Light, experiencing physicality creates the illusion that our Reality, the Reality that God created, has somehow been altered. This is the belief in the ego, or the belief in separation from God. It grips the mind in fear, or oftentimes, terror. The body, which is the star of the show in the perceptual dream, is key to this altered state of mind from Heaven to hell, from safety to danger, and from oneness to separation. “The body is a fence the Son of God imagines he has built to separate parts of himself from other parts. It is within this fence he believes he lives to die as it decays and crumbles. But within this fence he believes he is safe from love ... and if he didn’t die, what “proof” is there that God’s eternal Son can be destroyed.” (ACIM W-260) ∼♥∼ Love is what we are, and love cannot be destroyed; to know fully who we are will cast out fear. ∼♥∼ Returning to Love often requires mind training, which slowly but surely draws our mind’s energy away from the ego, as this thought system is highly addictive when believed in. True forgiveness of the perceptual dream is realized through emptying our mind from all that it thinks it thinks and thinks it knows, to overcome its belief in the “I know” mind. Our real Mind holds only what we think with God, which is pure knowledge of our nature as Love and Light. Any unloving thoughts, which contradict our true nature, stem from the false belief that the perceptual dream is real; that we are merely the body, and that the five senses are a valid test in determining what reality is. Forgiving these thoughts and perceptions can be accomplished by observing them with the Holy Spirit, a gift given to us by God to guide us home. ∼♥∼ “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8) ∼♥∼ As we withhold judgment of our feelings and perceptions, instead giving them over to the Holy Spirit, our mind begins to be cleansed of its perceptual errors; hastening in its return to the light. As we gently recover awareness of the power of our Mind, the light becomes more and more present within it. We become more and more adept at resisting the temptation to make egoic thoughts real or to accept them as true. Eventually, the knowledge of our pristine Mind, where fear can enter not, is recovered. Allowing the Holy Spirit to gently guide our mind to its original mooring in Love indeed changes the purpose for the body. It is transformed from a fence keeping us stuck in hell without hope of escape, to the means by which we can be freed and returned to sanity. In this way, the goal of Heaven has been exchanged for the pursuit of hell. As we allow only loving thoughts toward our brothers and sisters, we begin to recognize that they are intimately joined with us. They are walking along the road back to sanity with us, hand in hand. What a stark contrast to viewing them through the egoic lens which sees them as a source of competition and opposition to perpetuate fear! Now the body serves the Mind it was designed in. It is no longer being used in the ego’s plan for salvation to kill, but being used for the holy purpose of extending love. ∼♥∼ “There is an experience that brings an end to all uncertainty and an end to all questions. In essence, our destiny is to live in total joy; a glorious inheritance bestowed upon us by our Creator. David emphasizes that this realization can only bring immense relief and relaxation to the mind, as we recognize how abundantly loved we are and always have been! And this agape love, unconditional and unwavering, cannot be diminished. It remains forever unchanging. They simply come together in the prayer “we don’t know, Spirit, show us the way,” with the intention of tuning into inspiration, following guidance and not getting lost in fear thoughts that anything need be prepared. According to Linda, the perfect ideas are miraculously showing up this way, noted onto a whiteboard! David remarks on how playful this is; not trying to adhere to any ritual or structure for the upcoming event. Reflecting on last year's MCA, what truly stood out for David was the vibrant participation, the spontaneity of each day, and the synergy experienced by both presenters and participants. This year's Academy is expected to embrace the same aliveness by its very nature of spontaneity. Here, everyone can just enjoy the moment and the holy encounters. If we want to live a joyful life of dependence on God, then we need to take a look at what we truly desire and what we are still holding onto. At the heart of this lesson lies a simple yet profound truth: the importance of going beyond mere words. When we say the words, "I want the peace of God," it is not about the words themselves but the sincerity with which we mean them. Jesus assures us that when our desire is genuine, there is no suffering that we cannot rise above. The journey toward the peace of God is really about wanting to know that God's Will and my will are the same: for perfect happiness. That is a very high prayer! It takes a lot of miraculous experiences to wash away that sense of fear of God dependency, because we have become so accustomed to taking care of ourselves personally. We need to be convinced by the Holy Spirit . We are just like little children that need to be convinced and be shown the way. And the more that happens—through miracles and by following our inner prompts—the deeper we realize that our dependence on God is actually aligned with the deepest prayer of our heart: to know that we are fully cared for. When we become more and more focused on what we truly want in our heart of hearts, then things start to shift and the world begins to reflect more and more witnesses. David: “I have one friend who's been praying and praying and praying and praying, and she just received an invitation from a friend of hers who said, ‘Here, come to this country, I'll buy you an air ticket, I welcome you with open arms, come and stay and live with me.’ And it was such a beautiful reflection of surrender, of letting go.” It is like that beautiful prayer in A Course in Miracle s, "Holy Spirit, decide for God for me." It is not a “personal me” that is making this decision. As we align with this prayer, we feel relaxed and things just show up as a reflection of this. How to decide for God's love and truth in every situation. The Decision for God Every situation that is presented to us is an opportunity for prayer. The decision for God is always present in our mind. This decision means that no matter what is presented, or what plays out, our decision is to be taken deeper into Truth. Now. Beyond the things of this world. When our desire for God is all that we want, we are no longer afraid, because there is no outcome that could go wrong. God is the one Guarantee, the one Guaranteed Outcome. When He is truly the aim I seek, and the aim of all my living here, I have nothing to fear. Because what I sought, I found. The end is here and now, in my heart. Any other 'end goal' takes my mind into identifying as a body, in the script, in the future. That is a scary thought. It doesn't matter the details. Simply identifying with the 'person', the 'body', 'in the script' is a scary thought - for it is to identify with something separate, something apart from God. Something that can be threatened. God is not in time. God is Love, here and now. There is a sameness behind all appearances, a Love beyond all images, a consistency beneath all happenings. In the deep recesses of our Mind, we have not forgotten our Father. Our oneness with Him is unshaken by illusions. We have always abided in His everlasting Love. “You will identify with what you think will make you safe. Whatever it may be, you will believe that it is one with you. Your safety lies in truth, and not in lies. Love is your safety. Fear does not exist. Identify with love, and you are safe. Identify with love, and you are home. Identify with love, and find your Self.” (What is the body? ACIM) "Father, You stand before me and behind, beside me, in the place I see myself, and everywhere I go.
